Day 3. Wednesday July 29

Today I rode sweep for 30 miles. Seeing what it would be like to be staff. I rode with Jeff and had a blast! Once we reached sag Jeff went on to other duties and I tried to chase down Jane. She beats me in, I buy lunch. I hammered and in the end made it in first, but only cuz she stopped on the wrong side of the rode to improvise facilities. I on the other hand just waited til I reached the hotel. Jane could definately do better.

Mike and Karen were interviewed today, our very own celebrities.

I also managed to have a mani-pedi. Toes match the bike!

Day 25 July 16

There were just 2 things I wanted to remember about Chamberlain. How welcoming they were, and Inga & Mia. They spotted us while on a search for a Pizza joint. They were from Denmark and traveling from New York to San Fransico. They met us in the middle.

Day 25 July 16

Chamberlain:
What's so special about the road to Chamberlain? It marks the 1/2 way mark on our trek Across America.

We had a ceremonial pic at the first SAG, team EFS, as we are known, plus Jane. And a pic at the actual 1/2 way mark. Team TriCyclist as we wanted to be known. "EFS" team Early Forty Somethings. It's cute!

FW: Day 24 July 15

Pierre: 117 miles
The State Capital is the finish line today and I am ready to ride! It's a bit chilly but I love riding in the morning. Spin class has been good for the 7min. warm up. I'm set and pick up the pace. See Jane and she is looking good and feeling strong. Make dinner plans and head for reach first SAG. Keep it quick. My mantra, nobody listens. 15min. Yuck! Loose Nick on way to second SAG. He's having a bad day. Sat on his glasses at breakfast, and now his cyclometer is on the fritz. Doug bibbed it and is having a hard time with the potty breaks. 10min. I'm off. Doug is alsotrying to meet up with a co-worker who is traveling East-West across America by car. Very cool. I'm off.

The wind was pretty favorable. Except for 20 miles of head wind. I make it in 7hrs.

Dinner and site seeing with Jane. Check out the deer!

Day 23 Tuesday July 14

Today I attempt to catch up. We all know I'm technologically challenged, so when things don't work right away...

The road to Wall was short. 57 miles. We did have some wind. Not too bad. We road the freeway a bit, 14 miles. The freeway is loud, but it hasn't been too bad. The shoulders have been quite nice.

We all left together. The TriCyclist and Jane, warm the guys up, and get Jane going. The treat today is Wall Drugs. Jane's excited to see a tourist trap. Something different than the box shopping centers and WalMarts we've become acustom to. After a few miles the guys were warm and off. Just Jane and I. Hitting the road. Freeway. Heading to Wall. Not much talking. Except, I did mention the Badlands.

So, we met back up for lunch at Wall Drugs, apparently world famous. It kinda reminded me of Knotts Berry Farm. Western themed shopping. Just not drug store items. For which I had a list: deorderant (I left in the last hotel,) tooth paste, razors (which have been over worked). Picked that up later, at the grocery store before I had laundry duty.

Badlands. The plan was to come in with Jane, then add bonus miles to Badlands. Not even 20miles. The wind was blowing something fierce. I decided to pass. Save myself for the 117 up next. Jane went alone. Jane IS a badass! I was very worried when she left, proud when she came in.
