Day 10

There are a lot of factors. 50 mile ride, nice slightly overcast weather, wicked tail wind, yesterdays day off, today was a nice fast ride. Yahoo! I was just so excited to ride today. Even my butt was happy to be back in the saddle. It really appreciated the day off.

Both Doug & Nick were dressed to impress. Nick sporting bright yellow bibs and matching jersey and Nick all sleeked out in this black Saab number. Nick was also feeling quite powerful after finally relenting and shaving the legs apparently he is feeling much lighter. So the ride was fast, and fun, but it had it's issues.

Most of the ride took place on I-84. So there was a little stress involved. Semi's whizzing by. The first 1/2 was smooth Doug stamp of approval. The second 1/2 was just the opposite. Somewhere around mile 40 Nick slit a tire. The goal was to slow it down a bit but I was too anxious. Right as we came into Mountain Home we came across a bike shop. They had no tires. So we stopped at Albertsons and got super glue to hold it over to the next stop. Next stop is 97miles.

I received an e-mail today from a great cyclist, who will be moving while I am away. Mark Danke found me at the Mining Country Challenge and invited me to ride with the Bullshifters. It really didn't fit Ito my schedual so he offered up a Tuesday ride, which I accepted. Mark taught me a lot of things. He made me technically a better rider. I will miss him. What surprised me the most about the note were the tears that came as he said he was proud of me. My best effort everytime. Bonus miles and quality hills.
